Who can Help me on Weather and Geography?

Okay..........I'm going to ask you a lot of questions so please pe patient because I really need to know this.

What are the major cities in Tornado Alley?

Is the Midwest or Northeast colder in the winter?

What is the coldest Southern, Wester, Northeastern, and Midwestern state?

What is the most "mid western" state?

Which states are the hottest to coldest? Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada or California?

What is the muggiest southern states, also including Hawaii?

Which region gets the most snow? Pacific West (not including Alaska, Southwest, Midwest, New England, Mid Atlantic, South, Mountain, or Great Plains?

Of that region, which one is the coldest, driest, wettest, snowiest, warmest, and most densely populated?Who can Help me on Weather and Geography?
Sorry, but I don't know the answers to all of these. You might want to use textbooks, search engines (such as google) to help you out.

Fort Worth, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Wichita, Topeka, Omaha

Midwest

Kentucky, Montana, Maine, North Dakota

North Dakota

Good luck with the rest.Who can Help me on Weather and Geography?
This webpage will tell you and show you the map of Tornado Alley

http://library.thinkquest.org/03oct/0175鈥?/a>

Both of these places are very cold usually during the winter time. But generally I think that it would be more the northeast area. But because of the open plains that are within the midwest area, it is probably that it would be really cold in this area.

Northeastern and Midwestern states are usually the coldest. The southern states, do not usually see that cold of weather.

Nebraska would be the most western of the midwest states.

California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah

Hawaii is one of the most muggiest states I believe, but a lot of the southern ones that are in the Gulf of Mexico and those areas.

It would be areas in the Central Coast to the Northern Coast area of BC.

It would probably be somewhere like Prince Rupert.

Am I a fair weather/bandwagon fan?

Ok heres the deal I have been an Arizona State University fan since I was 8 cuz they are the home team. I have been going to there games for quite some time like 8 years. (Im 18 now) I also started to become a die hard utah fan. See my mom graduated there and so did a ton of my extended family and I've been a die hard since 2004. I have owned tons of ASU merchandise for a while. Recently I have been buying lots of UofU gear cuz I have a job and have money now. But everyone is calling me a bandwagoner. Oh yea annd I have always pulled for my two teamseven if they were loosing. ASU especially hahaAm I a fair weather/bandwagon fan?
I don't care and neither should you. If someone starts paying me for my loyalties, I MIGHT think about their opinion. Otherwise, only one person's opinion is important concerning who or what you want to support. I like the Browns and the Cardinals. Do I give diddley squat how you feel about it??? There's your answer..Am I a fair weather/bandwagon fan?
Your mom went to utah so since she went there its ok. plus utah is not a bandwagoner team. If you were to go for auburn florida or usc you would be a bandwagon fan.Am I a fair weather/bandwagon fan?
Yes.

  • Anyone live in Provo or Salt Lake City Utah?

Do you like it? Which has better weather? How is the economy, schools, housing? Did you move there from elsewhere? I've decided that if I am going to move from Buffalo, NY, then that is probably where I am going to look. Preferably a detached 3 bd. house with a garage in a safe area. My husband would need to find a job as an addictions/mental health counselor. My business at present is portable and I would be looking for an opportunity in the future with Ancestry.com or the LDS Family History Library Headquarters. That would only be if I get better health wise but would probably happen with the change of climate. I also have a hs senior who will be going to college by Jan 2009 or Sept 2009 and pursuing a creative field. I probably won't go unless my siblings and mother do but it wouldn't take much convincing to get the siblings and spouses to go.

If I stay here I will be in a wheelchair in less than ten years and I am missing out on a life I planned for in college.Anyone live in Provo or Salt Lake City Utah?
I grew up in Provo and spent 10 years of my adult life in Salt Lake. Provo is not nearly as nice as SLC. It's a lot more conservative and more closed minded as far as the people go than I care for.

Salt Lake is quite nice. The weather can be a bummer in the winter since it is in a valley it gets pretty hazy and just down right depressing, but summer, fall and spring there is beautiful.

There are a lot of nice, safe neighborhoods, but anything in a nice area is really expensive. If you are planning on working for the church since all their offices tend to be downtown, some decent areas for you to look for housing would be the zip codes of 84103- east side, 84109, 84108, 84124 and 84117. All those areas are very safe, upperclass neighborhoods and fairly close to downtown and good freeway access. The schools are all better in those neighborhoods and even though housing is more expensive in those areas, with market slow right now you should be able to get a good deal on a house.

Here is a great website to look at all the mls house listings. Search in those zip codes I gave you and see what you think.

I visited Provo and Salt Lake City a few years ago. If you're LDS it is probably better in Provo but Salt Lake City has LDS too. The weather is cold in winter..snow etc but not cold as Upstate Buffalo New York. It is a desert valley, so it will get hot sometimes in the summer but it is beautiful with the Wasatch Mountains to the east. It is dry...not that much humidity like back east. Take a visit there and visit both areas and look around. I think the Family History Library jobs are voluntary, but I could be wrong. The Headquarters can be different.

Have you ever taken your toddlers for a camp-out in freezing, snowy weather?

...and if so, was your wife abducted by aliens when you returned home?

    - - - - -

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Police had little to go on Sunday in the search for a Utah woman who hasn't been seen for a full week.

Twenty-eight-year-old Susan Powell was reported missing from a Salt Lake City suburb in a case that police call suspicious.

She left behind two children and a husband, who says he doesn't know what happened to her.

West Valley City Police Capt. Tom McLachlan says at least eight detectives worked the case Sunday, fielding any tips or leads they can get from the family or friends.

Detectives are appealing for the public's help.

They plan to conduct another interview early this week with husband Josh Powell, who told police he left his wife and took his boys, ages 2 and 4, on a camping trip around midnight Dec. 6 in subfreezing temperatures.

Powell told police he slept in a van with the boys in Utah's west desert. Police say he returned home Tuesday evening. They haven't been able to verify the camping trip because snow had covered the spot where he said he went.

The missing woman's father, Chuck Cox, sat down to tell the detectives everything he knew about his daughter Sunday, then took a few hours off "after going nonstop for six days," said a spokeswoman for Susan Powell's family in Payallup, Wash.

"We don't have any reason or direction or anything that would give us an idea that she's at one place or another," said the spokeswoman, Shelby Gifford.

In Utah, many of the family members and friends were fasting, praying and resting Sunday, said Damon Talbot, president of the nonprofit Destiny Search Project. Talbot helps maintain a Facebook page for Susan Powell that was created by her best friend, Kiirsi Hellewell in West Valley City. Hellewell had nothing new to report Sunday afternoon.

Police say they can't confirm the husband's account of taking a camping trip while his wife disappeared.

Detectives visited the spot, Simpson Springs on the historic Pony Express Trail in Utah's west desert. Josh Powell told authorities he kept shelter with his children in a van while camping.

McLachlan said police questioning of the 4-year-old child wasn't definitive. He declined to elaborate.

"It's still a missing-person case. We don't have any information or fact to move it from that classification," McLachlan said. "But it is very suspicious to us, given the circumstances."

Susan Powell disappeared without taking her purse or cell phone or other items "that you would normally associate with somebody leaving the house," he said.Have you ever taken your toddlers for a camp-out in freezing, snowy weather?
That dude is so guilty. It's just a matter of time before they find her corpse and then it's over for him.Have you ever taken your toddlers for a camp-out in freezing, snowy weather?
No, I haven't. I did take my four year old camping in July though. My wife survived the ordeal.

I love science but don't really understand the first question but can help the the 2nd and 3rd.

I will guess New York City where I'm guessing the wind comes across the Atlantic Ocean.

    2. Lower latitudes tend to have higher temperatures because they receive more sun on average because they have the sun more directly overhead all year long. The earth north and south poles are at the highest latitudes (90 degrees) and have the lowest temperatures.

    3. Brighton Utah is at 8700 feet and high altitudes generally are cooler than lower altitudes. Salt Lake City is about 5000 feet and thus is lower and warmer. The air cools about 4 degrees for every 1000 feet of elevation.10 pts plzz help! Science! Weather stuff!?

Both are directly adjacent to the Atlantic ocean.

    1. This could be either b or c, as both cities lie on the Atlantic coast.

    2. C, because lower latitudes get more direct sunlight than higher latitudes.

    3. C, Look at a map and see where Brighton is located. There is a nice mountain range just east of Salt Lake. Do you understand the effect of mountains on temperatures and precipitation? As air is lifted, like being blown up a mountain range, it cools. If it cools enough, clouds and precipitation form.

Questions about Alaska and weather, etc. ?

For those who live/lived in Alaska or have family or have been there,i want to learn more about it and what it's like. I live in utah and i'm trying to find a a good place to move to. I HATE utah. People are horrible and soo judge mental here. I live with my mom,and she hates the rain,so does it rain alot in alaska? What towns in alaska rain alot and is it always dark there?

What places in Alaska are sunny most of the time and rain less and is Alaska a good place for people with asthma?

And how are the people out there?

Best answer gets 10 points! I need as much info as possible!

ThanksQuestions about Alaska and weather, etc. ?
I have lived in Alaska since I was born. I'm 18 now.

So to your first question - does it rain a lot?

Alaska is a large place and it really depends on where you go. I am from Anchorage, used to live in Cordova for 5 years. It doesn't rain much in Anchorage, which is south-central, and the largest city (Probably the first place you would go if you fly in) but Cordova, AK is only about 150 or so miles east, and it rains over 100 inches a year. Basically, anywhere on the coast is probably going to rain a lot. If you don't like rain, South-East and the Aleutians aren't for you.

    2) Is it always dark there?

It depends on how far north-south you are. In Barrow, there is a large chunk of the year in which it is dark 24/7. In the summer, it's sunny 24/7 in most of Alaska for a period. How long it is like that depends on how far north or south you are. In the North, it will be dark for a longer period, and be really light for a longer period. But if you're in Anchorage, it will be light for 24 hours for a few weeks and be light the rest of the time for most of the day in the summer. In the winter, it will get to where there is only about 5 hours of daylight. But you get used to it.

What Places in Alaska Are Sunny?

Interior Alaska is really sunny. Like up in Fairbanks. I have never lived there, but I have heard that it rarely rains. My mom is from Gakona, and went to University in Fairbanks for a couple years, and she says it is pretty sunny and nice. It gets really hot up there, so I assume it is sunny.

Anchorage has been kind of hit and miss - the last couple summers have sucked balls.

South-East is rainy a lot. Many places get over 100 inches of rain in a year. I lived in Cordova, and one winter we had only 3 sunny days - everything else was either snow, rain, or clouds. Sometimes the rain and snow would kind of mix and everything would get icy and slushy, and it would suck balls. But Cordova was fun and a nice place to live regardless.

    How is Alaska for Asthma?

No clue, I don't have it, but I have friends with it and they function fine

And how are the people out there?

Not bad! My dad says that people up in Fairbanks get bitter from the cold, but he could be full of crap. I have found that people in rural areas are way nicer than people from Anchorage. Anchorageans or whatever we're called can be ***** sometimes. That's because many are from the lower 48, are not really Alaskans, don't want to be Alaskans, and don't adjust. Not all people are like that, but there are bad apples that really spoil it. My family has lived up here since about 1910. They are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. In fact, most people out of the city, and most people in the city itself, really are. I've never been to South-East, or Y-K Delta, or Alaska Peninsula, but it's probably similar. It all depends on what you want to do. Many people come up here with prejudices from down south, oppose people who fish and hunt as a way of life, and don't get that that is a part of the lifestyle for many Alaskans. Just another way of thinking, but if you are like that, you'll close a lot of doors with people - always keep your connections open.

In the end, Alaska really has just about everything you would want. You can stay in the big city (Anchorage), go out and live out in the country and live more in tune with the land, go hunting, fishing, boating, flying, whatever you want pretty much. It's a big country, there's a lot to do.

    Additional Questions -

2 Bedroom Apartment - About 800 dollars last time I looked, but that's been a while and i'm not in the market. I suggest you look at the Anchorage Craigslist.

Gas Prices - It was like 3.27 when I gassed up today. Not cheap, but hey, gas ain't cheap anymore like it used to be.Questions about Alaska and weather, etc. ?
I have visited Alaska a few times in winter. As you get further north day length has greater seasonal extremes. At Barrow, the northernmost town, there are weeks around the summer solstice that the sun never sets, and there are weeks around the winter solstice in which the sun never gets above the horizon. The sun does skim a few degrees below the horizon on winter days, so there is midday twilight. Barrow has a lot of street lighting for such a small town.

    http://www.wunderground.com/wximage/view鈥?/a>

Winters get very cold, but not as much as you might expect. Record low is -53掳F. The ice cold seawater circulating under the ice compensates somewhat for latitude in winter. However, it can get windy, with dangerously low windchill. Summers get above freezing, but not very much. Barrow's rainfall is low enough to be technically a desert. However cloudy days are frequent, and in summer mosquitoes proliferate in ponds that form on the frozen tundra.

In Fairbanks, a few degrees below the arctic circle, the sun sets briefly during the summer solstice. However there is summer midnight twilight. Days are short during the winter. Fairbanks gets less annual precipitation than Salt Lake City, and only slightly more snowfall. However, it seems like more. The snow goes months without melting. The underlying permafrost prevents water from sinking very deeply into the ground. Winters get cold. The record is -62掳F. More typically a winter season might drop to about -40掳F. It takes an investment in clothes. Fairbanks is surrounded by wilderness, but the city is very suburban. Automobile exhaust seems to be especially persistent in the winter cold.

Getting closer to the Gulf of Alaska winter temperatures are less severe. There is more rain.

  • What's the average temperature in Moab, Utah in late March/ early April?

I live in the Bay Area Cali and have been wanting to take vacation to the Moab area to go mountain biking.

What's the temperatures in the springtime? Is there still snow in some areas? How about the weather; rain; fog; cloudy; sunny?

Also; is it a good time to go mountain biking/ hiking? Or should I go during another season?

What type of clothing should I pack? Light? Heavy? Or should I pack for the unexpected weather conditions?

Other tips and comments about the weather or trails are defenitely appreciated. :)What's the average temperature in Moab, Utah in late March/ early April?
Hi, use your favorite weather website (mine is wunderground) and plug in Moab's zip code 84532. Then look at the weather history for your specified date to visit during a selection of past years. I find this greatly beneficial when I plan to travel.

In addition, know that Canada, Wisconsin, North Dakota and Wyoming have arrived to commit to multiple day camping and canoeing on the Green River into Canyonlands National Park to use the jet boat shuttle to return to Moab at trip end. In March predawn temperature dips to freeze a plate of ice on dish wash buckets or even freeze a liter water bottle. Days are sunny and I rather think the perfect temperature for riding bike around Moab.

One week to anticipate is the Jeep Safari week. It is March 27 - April 4th in 2010; and the weekend of our Canyonlands Half Marathon is March 19-21, 2010. Rooms ought to be sold out by now for those dates.

Pack layers to contain a water-proof/wind-proof layer and a backpack to manage shedding and putting layers back on.

http://www.discovermoab.com will be a fine source for trails for your visit.

And you should you ever desire to Mix Business with Pleasure, the Moab Travel Council has a new department for Meetings and Events. Planners will receive great help with accommodations, meeting spaces, event rentals and all, look at http://www.moabutah.info for that type of resources some future visit too.

    Ohio, Colorado or Utah?

im graduating high school soon, im 17 and i graduate this year im looking for where to move after im done and what state college to apply to.. i live in new jersey rite now, but ive always hated it here i want to move somewhere where is always cold but not too cold even tho i do prefer the cold than the hot weather 10000 times more...i like cold climates. and i was thinkin how awsome it would be if i can go to eather one of this states i want like a pretty, homey little town may be where is also close to the city like parties and stuff....can anyone give me any ideas on how this states are or anything that can help me make a choice?Ohio, Colorado or Utah?
You would love Ft.Collins, Co. University town. Voted best city of under 300,000 in the U.S. Beautiful, near mountains, not far from Denver. Colorado Springs was voted best city to live in with population over 300,000. Also has university, beautiful, one hr. south of Denver. see websites below, then do websearches on your own to learn more.. Best of luck to you.
you dont want ohio. in the high country of colorado it satys nice but very cold in the winter.Ohio, Colorado or Utah?
I live in OHIO, in a suburb of Cleveland about 30 minutes from Downtown but, close to many businesses and shopping. Ohio is seasonal probably not too far off from New Jersey.. We get all the seasons.. Fall, Spring, Winter and Summer and lately the Summers just seem hotter and hotter and we get pretty cold here in the winter.. I live off the lake which makes a HUGE difference- it even makes a difference if you live on EAST/WEST side of the city. EAST SIDE gets way more snow.. The SOUTH not quite as much and it's a bit warmer there in the winter.. Ohio

State (GO BUCKS) would be an obvious choice it's in Columbus%26lt;OHIO south of Cleveland for a great college but, it's in a city atmosphere and it's kinda a dump if you ask me ! Or you could go to CSU/Case Western and live in a surrounding suburb like Lakewood, Cleveland Hts or Mayfield. Bowling Green State University is very nice in Fremont Ohio. I went there for a few yrs.. it's in farm country so it's the other end of the spectrum and Toledo University is much like OSU big city atmosphere, kinda a dump once again. It's very, very flat in those areas so the wind in the winter cuts you like a knife ! I like living in Ohio but, if I had the choice I've heard Colorado is really very, very nice and GREAT if you are a single person ! Good luck with whatever you choose...
    colorado!Ohio, Colorado or Utah?
Utah is not the place to go for "parties and stuff"

I think Fort Collins, Colorado, sounds like a great place. That sounds really fun.

Another thing to think about is that some state colleges offer in state tuition to out of staters and some state colleges are so expensive that you might as well be paying full tuition to Yale. (University of Michigan is an example!) State colleges don't offer as much financial aid as private colleges do so if you might get financial aid, consider private colleges too.

If you really want to go to a state college, here are two of the cheapest ones I know of for out of staters:

+ Eastern Oregon University with tuition around $6000 and room and board around $8000 (14,000 total per year), and

+ Southwest MN State Univ at (MN) with tuition around $6500 and room and board around $5500 (12,000 total per year).

They are in La Grande Oregon or Marshall Minnesota, pretty homey little towns - each a few hours from a big city. College towns can be a lot of fun. And the weather in Southern Minnesota or in Oregon will not be too different from the weather in New Jersey. (Northern Minnesota is too cold, though, I think. If you really like cold, consider Bemidji State, a great college in a beautiful area that that has very low prices (Iike SW MN State) but very cold weather.)
    Colorado all the way

    How is the weather?

    Sunny and cool.
    it's snowing here in Moscow
The weather is OK here, mid 40s and overcast - has been like this all week so far. Midwest area.
In Jersey it's sunny and around 40.
Im in Iowa and today is kinda cool but sounds like we might get some rain or snow you know the weather man he cant deside
I live in Michigan and because we are surrounded by the Great Lakes, we never know what our weather will have in store for us. But today, its dark and gloomy, cold but dry. Normally we are covered in snow this time of year, but have not had our big stow yet. Have a wonderful New year!! The sun may come out tomorrow!
Sounds depressing.... it is cold here... 30 and sunny in Kentucky..... yeah Bumbles is lost in kentucky... point me to the north pole!!!
kentucky, 52 today, very nice, while it lasts
    SUNNY....AND COLD
it's 35 with a mix of rain and snow forecast..it's winter so that's fairly normal..doesn't depress me at all
i want SNOW!!! it has been to warm for snow to stay on the ground and we havent even had that many flurries. my soccer team and i were practicing in november and we thought we were gonna have a bad winter because it was snowing during our practice. but now it is gross how warm it is and it is almost january and there is still no snow. i want snow.
Today I'm in Miami,FL.Sunny and very warm.Tomorrow I'm likely to be in New York or Chicago and the weather will suck, I'm sure!
In West Virginia it is in the 30's right now but it is suppose to get in the upper 50's it would be nice if it would snow but it is not anytime soon
It is 32 degrees here this morning. I live in Northeast TN. The weather here is different every day. One day the high will be in the 70's and the next day the high way be in the 40's. I think it is suppose to get in the upper 50's today.
in CA it cold and Wendy, maybe rain by Subday

    2. Utah - Definitely on my list to. Towns there are pretty small, and on top of that it's filled with Mormons. One of the craziest religions of all time.

    3. Missouri - This place sucks. Big time. My biological grandparents, and step-grandma both live in Missouri, but they live in seperate parts of it. I've basically been all over this place, and there is nothing redeeming about it. If someone says to you, "Hey, let's go to Missouri for vacation..." they are not your friend.

Edit: Oh, and I'm from Colorado.
Haha I like your third choice(that's where I live) and its not THAT cold jeez...xD

Texas(it would be awesome but WAY TOO HOT for me!)

Missouri(I gotta have either ocean or mountains)

Hawaii(Too hot, crowded, and racism cuz I'm white regardless of the beach, going there on vacation is okay with me though xD)What state would you never want to live in?
i'm from Michigan and i like it here :)

the states i'd never want to live in are

Texas: everyone i've ever met from texas is just arrogant and annoying

Georgia: i don't know why but i've always hated georgia.... i've had a panic attack every single time i've been there

Arizona: it's just too freakin hot for me out there, i love snow, i need my snowy winters!
Texas, because of the same reasons as yours, along with the friggin' Cowboys.

    Louisiana, because of the crimes.

Arizona, because it's too hot and I don't want McCain to be my Senator. :PWhat state would you never want to live in?
Arizona: I hate their immigration law. I'm not gonna deal with being asked for my papers, since i'm Mexican. NO WAY
    Alaska: Too cold.
Montana: I don't like Hannah Montana. LOL
hawaii it's out there in the middle of the ocean oops i mean new jersey and michigan there is nothing there to see or do
    California, because you live there.

    Hahaha.

    St. George, Utah????

Hi! I have some questions my husband and I are going to be moving to St. George in about a month. I need to know what to expect I know about the whole morman thing. Are people out there nice, is there lots of job opportunities? What's the weather like is there any place fun a young married couple can go out to do like clubs or a bar scene? How is the housing out there?? So many questions I know but I would appreciate it if you would let me know about this place..never been before! :)St. George, Utah????
Saint George is a growing community due to its proximity to Vegas. Don鈥檛 worry about the Mormons it鈥檚 the others you need to watch out for.

Bryce Canyon, Zion Nat Park %26amp; Lake Powell are great recreation get aways in the area.

Mesquite, NV is only 40 miles away for all the night life you will ever need.

The temperature for tomorrow 71. Low around 47.

So if its 70 in March you can about figure what it will be like in July.St. George, Utah????
I live in Northern Utah and have been to Saint George before. There are lots of job opportunities out there and Saint George is really growing. As for the weather it gets really hot there like 100 degrees in the summer time and the winter time it does not get cold enough to snow there. Saint George is growing so the housing should be pretty good.

So utah's really humid right now?

and it sucks haha how's the weather in other places? :)So utah's really humid right now?
I think it's raining in Utah right now :DSo utah's really humid right now?
It's the same in southern Texas. Hot and humid!

Is this warm weather? Like T-Shirt weather?

well we're going to an amusement park in farmington, utah and it said its suposed to be

    50-60 Degrees F

partly cloudyIs this warm weather? Like T-Shirt weather?
    wear a sweatshirt
I would bring an jacket with you just because that is what they said the weather is does not mean that is what is going to be. By the way the amusement park you are talking about is Lagoon. Is this warm weather? Like T-Shirt weather?
I am in Utah. and we are cold T_T wear a long sleeve shirt
wear a light sweater. Is this warm weather? Like T-Shirt weather?
yea it is but if it gets too cold you might want to carry a light jacket anyway because i hav seen people in shorts and tank tops and flipflops.
yes this would be good weather for tee-shirt weather but just in case bring a sweat shirt

  • Skunk Gecko... Pet store said that the terrarium substrate heater will be fine. Is it really?

I purchased the substrate heater, it is the heat wave desert small size (sales guy said that because I have the coconut fibers that it would work best) 8x8 - 8 watts and it doesn't feel warm in the area that it is in. How warm does it need to be in a certain area for my gecko so that it will help in the digestion of his food? should I scratch the substrate heater and go with a light? It is in my sons room, I don't want it to keep him awake at night. Also, does it really need to be humid in there? I have a mesh top that came with the tank, is it better that I get a solid top with a little bit of opening? I live in Utah and the weather is in the 70's right now during the day, is it warm enough for it? at night I have the heater on set for 69 degrees, is that ok?

How do you determine the sex of a gecko? I have read other pages and don't understand what they mean. Do geckos have tongues? It doesn't look like mine does. I bought it a week ago and they said that it is about 1-2 yrs. old.Skunk Gecko... Pet store said that the terrarium substrate heater will be fine. Is it really?
You should go with lights too. You need to atleast get a day light. It wont keep your son awake, because you only keep it on at night. If you have a bottom heater than that should be enought for at night. You need to get a thermometer and a hydrometer(to keep track of the temp and humidity in your tank). Keeping a mesh top on your tank should be fine, but you do need to mist it daily.

Awww, it's my dog's first birthday. Do you celebrate your dog's birthday?

Kingston is one year old today! :D

Haha. I gave him an extra hug and bought him a sparkly, blue collar :)

I'm probably going to make him some chicken for dinner tonight, his favorite, and some treats.

I WAS going to take him on a hike, but it's SNOWING! Crazy Utah weather..

Anyway, do you celebrate your dog's birthday or is it just another day? What do you do for them?

And if you have a rescue and don't know their 'real' birthday, did you make one for them?

:)Awww, it's my dog's first birthday. Do you celebrate your dog's birthday?
    Haha I will!

    It's the 9/5.

I'm going to buy him a new collar %26amp; a new toy, and he can have a cake made out of vanilla icecream with dog biccies on it.

    LOL!

    I've already got it planned.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY KINGSTON! %26lt;3
I suppose we do in a way.

Tess' birthday is on Christmas Eve. (that was the actual date she was born not the day we got her) %26amp; we always do something for Christmas Eve. Tess gets an xmas present and birthday present within 2 days!

Millie's not turned 1 yet but i'm sure we'll get her a birthday present of some-kind. We'll probably invest in a new ball or something...

Happy Birthday Kingston!Awww, it's my dog's first birthday. Do you celebrate your dog's birthday?
    Happy birthday to Kingston!

Yeah, I celebrated my dog's birthday. I cooked her some lamb and rice, went to her favorite dog park, and let her get away with a few things!

Yes, I made one up for my dog. I just estimated it to be September 25th.

That's funny that it's snowing in Utah; it's 70 degrees out in Arizona and we're wearing jackets!
Harley is an April Fool. His B-day's on April first. We usually don't do much, except I buy him a little treat and take him for a long walk. Last year I got him a collar.

Except this year I have Jazz band and Drumline during that time, so I won't even get to walk him for a long time, plus homework from my honors classes....Awww, it's my dog's first birthday. Do you celebrate your dog's birthday?
Yes to celebrating my dogs birthday! We buy a present and make a special dinner like you did! I have great danes and they think there human so its expected of me to celenrate.lol

In regards to making up a date for a rescue, I took in a stray cat. My fiance and my bday are 4 days apart, so the date inbetween ours we selected and made our cats bday. I knwo dorky, but he deserved his own special day too!
Whoa, you are from Utah too? Jeeze, I took my dog out for a walk today... in the snow. Freaking freezing out there.

But as for her birthday, I usually just give her a little bone or something. I can't afford anything huge, LOL!
Aw, you are such a good owner! We made my dog a doggie birthday cake. It's not a human birthday cake, so you can't eat it. Well you could, but I think it's made with the dog food from the can. Gross. Try that though! Your doggie will love it!!! :)
I do Duke's Birthday was October 5th. I made him a peanut butter cake and took him to the dog park a day before.

    %26lt;Duke

Dakota's birthday in January and i will for her too.
Both our dogs are from rescue so we don't know their birthdays. We don't bother to celebrate any other days. We take very good care of our dogs instead: exercise, training, good food etc
I always do something for my dogs on their b-days I make them special doggie treats and our rescued dog I count her first day here and her special day.
of course lol and Christmas they always get a prezzi and a nice big bit of fresh meat lol :)

The storms used to come from the west where I live, now?

They have all been comming from the south, I watch the weather radar a lot, and for several months now, they been comming from the south, not the west. Why would this be.

I Live in the northern half of utah. The storms used to come from the west where I live, now?
it's huricane season, all the moisture comes out of the gulf and the air currents bring it up from there. the nordic air comes down from up north but generally is higher in the atmosphere and goes right over utah to colorado where it procedes to create tornados from eastern co all thru tornado alley. watch the weather channel, they explain all this regularly this time of year. The storms used to come from the west where I live, now?
i live in northern indiana and we have weather from everywhere! anyways we do have severe thunderstorms and tornadoes so we really studied it in school....we learned that MOST of the time weather comes from the south, west, or southwest....so it is normal for the storms to be coming from the south-VERY normal....i think it would be weird if the weather came from the east.....

Alaska, Victoria Cruise Cell Phone Use Questions?

I already know that on a cruise, out at sea the prices are different for cell phone use.The cruise shop have their own price or the big cell companies like AT%26amp;T, Verizion and Sprint charge a different price. It mostly for emergency, I heard and a person on a forum said it will say SOS on the cell phone not the provider.

What about when people are on land or at port in Victora, would that be the same price as here in the U.S. or different just like being in Hong Kong, China, England, Germany and Italy(need to switch sim card).

How about when in Alaska at anywhere, when at port and on land would the price be the same with AT%26amp;T, Verizion and Sprint. It is the U.S., would it be like if one is in Vegas, L.A., New York, Washington D.C. or Florida and calling to a city in another state, on price?

How are the cell signal anywhere in Alaska?

I checked AT%26amp;T's site(the provider we have) and on their map they have services on land in Alaska. But do they charge the same as if say someone calling from Vegas to California or from New York to Utah, weather it mobile to mobile or not. Well the charges be like those kinds of way.

So anyone know anyone know anything or any good websites with infos, that might not be just one's view or guess and say best to call your cell provider.

My parents are going on the Alaska Victoria cruise for almost 10 days starting on Aug 6, and back home on Aug 15 mid to late afternoon. It be nice to keep in contact to make sure nothing happen to them like a bad road and got hurt well walking or there is whatever problem with the cruise ship and so on. Weather it been heard about on the news before(the last time there was any on local or network news on this) or it be for the first time and will be on the news.

Call me over reacting, crazy or whatever, but I do have a little anxiety disorder and been seeing a Psychiatric Social Worker since 04.Alaska, Victoria Cruise Cell Phone Use Questions?
I used my at%26amp;t iphone in every alaskan port on my cruise, signal was just fine. Billing is just like any other state, depends on your plan wheither or not you will have roaming fees. When you are onboard and the ship is out at sea you can use your phone, but with extra charges. There are also phones in the rooms that can be used with a phone card.

Usually cruise websites will have a FAQ that helps with these questions

  • What is a good free fun first date idea?

i want to go on a date with this girl i like this weekend. however, the weather isnt very good and i dont hve a lot of money. we live in Provo utah and my car is almost out of gas. i know this girl kind of well but i dont want it to be awkward and taking her home to my house is not an option. so what is something that we could do that wont be too far and wont cost too much and will be indoors but not at either of our houses? What is a good free fun first date idea?
You both can go to the mall and walk around, it's as much money as you want it to be. So if you don't want to spend money you don't have to and just walk around, explore %26amp; enjoy eachother's company.
oh know I think if the weather is not good than you house would be good.. Snuggle and watch a movie, have a hot drink (haha if you are old enough to drink)... popcorn and hot cocoa is always a good thing.. My boys take there girls for picnics, it's cheap, you can get stuff from the dollar store and go to a nearby park or lake,, hang out and watch the submarine races (hehe)

have funWhat is a good free fun first date idea?
If the weather is good that day drive her to a nearby park and have a picnic (you can get some cheese and crackers and some soda nothing fancy or expensive...) and if the weather is bad just walk around in a mall (I dont know if that is far). I don't know the area so I can't help you more than this!
how about watching a movie at the theatres ? let her pick her kind , followed by a nice walk in the park ! or even a lunch treat at taco bells , giving you time to talk and know each other ?

even a treat to the ice cream parlour is cool ! let her know before hand , youre situation ! im sure shes not into you for expensive dates or glamorous gifts , or exotic vacations !What is a good free fun first date idea?
Bike ride (although that's not really an option) you could go for a cheapish lunch in a cafe somewhere then take a walk.. that wont cost much. Ur mm the only other thing i can think of is a museum.. but that would be a boring and you may have to pay (some are free though!) Good Luck!
You could always just go to a friends house whos parents arnt home. Then kick your friend out. Watch a movie, cuddle, cutesy stuff like that ^^ Hope I helped.
I know this will sound weird but have you ever tried smoking cannibis? Ask if she does and if she does blaze up a zoot and it won't be awkward at all!! Haha!

    Hope this helps!
All tips and trick on this great site
You could go to an arcade and let her pick the games.
    bowling?
Go to an amusement park or bowling...idk Hope I helped

Which is better.... Utah or Colorado? WHY?

Please tell me which you think is better and why? Tell me a little about the pros/cons and differences in weather, people, shopping, etc. in general (although I suppose it depends on what part of the state you're in). I'm trying to decide if I want to stay in UT or move to CO. Any specific counties/cities exceptionally nice? Thanks for opinions :)Which is better.... Utah or Colorado? WHY?
I've only been to Colorado but it is a really nice state. Really gorgeous mountains and the nature is beautiful. The weather is a bit crazy though. Sunny one day, blizzard the next. The people are generally very nice. There are a lot of nice malls in Colorado. You should move to Colorado. :)

~chocolate loverWhich is better.... Utah or Colorado? WHY?
Well, i've never been to Utah, but i know the BIGGEST loser that lives there soooo yeah.. i wouldn't say it's a favorite.. lol jk jk.

But i've been to CO %26amp; it's beautiful. I love it there. I thought the people we really nice compared to the est coast. I went to Colorado Springs %26amp; it's right along the mountains, where Pikes Peak is, AMAZING. I love how out there it's hilly but it's doesn't have any of those really tall trees we have here on the east coast so at night when you look out you can see all the street %26amp; building lights, it's like something out of a picture or movie, soo beautiful. (well, you can see it if your like in an apartment/condo.. lol)Which is better.... Utah or Colorado? WHY?
I like Utah for it's diverse landscape, there is no place like it on earth. I hate to say it, but the Mormon people there can make it a difficult place to live if you're not one of them. Colorado is nice and has lots to offer but it is far more left leaning than Utah is. Summit county Colorado is especially nice, just a little west of Denver.
I can only speak for colorado. Gorgeous scenery even in the city of Denver. Weather is interesting one day sunny and high 60's the next, cold and snow! Seems like there may be more of a draw near a bigger city. Plus of the 4 people I know from utah, none of them stayed there they have all moved to the east coast

Reasons why CALIFORNIA is better than the toilet you live in?

    1) Weather. It isnt humid like in the south or eastern U.S, theres no such thing as blizzards in California unlike those other piece of crap states. Summers are nice and warm, winters= rain only. NO snow. If i want snow, i'll drive to lake tahoe. you idiots dont have that option.

    2) Diversity. I know the WHITE DEVILS frown upon this fact, but California is the most diverse state. Asians, Latinos, Crackers, Arabs, Indians, Blacks, Caribbean ppl, all kinds of ppl that make it good because there isnt an overwhelming CRACKER diversity like in Kansas for instance. Or Utah.

    3) We havent had an earthquake since 1989, a significant on at least, but you jackasses constantly bring it up. Well guess what biatches, theres no hurricanes in California. Theres no tornados, or snow blizzards. SUNSHINE ALL DAY ******!

    4) When people decide to go on vacation they never say "hey, lets go to texas!" or "hey, lets go to New Jersey" Everybody comes to California for a reason you pieces of crap.Reasons why CALIFORNIA is better than the toilet you live in?
i live here too- hodjii, LOL...

i think we have the highest per capita ration of sex offenders to victims anywhere...

...also road rage incidents, droughts, STD's and divorce.

...but it is pretty damn cool out here, though-especially snowboard season.
If Cali is SO great, then why did my friend move back the the east coast? The cost of living is so inflated there, that it is almost impossible for a student to find descent living accommodations near their school.Reasons why CALIFORNIA is better than the toilet you live in?
    lol
While I love the beach and warm weather, I do like fall (now that fall does not equal back to school). seeing the leaves change is awesome and there are some great scenic fall drives near me.

I have the beach too (and a house there), and there's always a breeze. besides, when it's 95 out - whether or not it's humid - I'm inside with the A/C on baby!

Fires aren't so romantic when it's 80 degress outside. Same goes for hot chocolate.

I have less of a chance of developing skin cancer - no sunscreen needed in the winter.

but all in all, I could handle living in CA.Reasons why CALIFORNIA is better than the toilet you live in?
Love CA.....the only place in Mexico with a large white population!
WEST SIDE!! I love California, I will never leave. But man the property is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!!! Gotta sell a limb just to get a down payment of a little @$$ condo. But theres no other place I would rather be!!!
The US tilts a little to the left and all the nuts keep rolling until they reach California..You have the greatest concentration of kooks anywhere.
Reasons why Alaska is better than the cesspool they call California:

    1. No heat waves. Right now Alaskans are enjoying the sunny weather with a high of maybe 80 degrees. No heat stroke for us!

    2. Excellent healthcare. My mother lives in California, and she has to wait for hours to see a mediocre doctor who doesn't really care about her illness. In Alaska, the doctors perform to a higher standard. They care abt. their patients.

    3. No pollution. In California, I could barely breathe. In Alaska, the pollution is so low as to be practically nonexistant.

    4. Everyone speaks English. Sure we have a lot of ethnic diversity in Alaska. We have representatives from every race and color who have decided to make their home in the Great Land. But everyone at least knows conversational English. In California, if I don't know Spanish, I can't communicate with half the population!

    5. The scenery. Where else can you wake up with a view of the highest mountain in the U.S. ?

In California, there is no wildness. It's all industrialized.

    6. The wildlife. I once woke up with a moose on my porch! And as far as bears, if you leave them alone, they leave you alone.

    7. The winter. Sure it gets cold, but that means that all the wimps that can't handle Alaska leave for California! And we always get snow for Christmas!

We have a saying in Alaska "Clean up Alaska; put a Californian on the bus"!
Still waiting for a question ... BTW when your world is sinking into the Pacific, the rest of America will be safely in front of their TVs looking for your stupidass. California is a laughing stock, and an embarrassment to the rest of the US ... you guys should thank New York for being there to take the spotlight off your foolishness.
    1) Earthquakes

    2) Mudslides

    3) Drought %26amp; intense heat

    4) Taxes, cost of living, overvalued real estate

    5) Less personal freedom due to overregulation.

    6) Just look at those gas prices! haha

    7) You're responsible for that crap they pass off as movies in America's theatres

    8) San Fransisco :-O

    9) Very little history of your own. 99% of CA was built in the last 100 yrs

    10) No seasons, no fall leaves, no snow. No sled rides, no white Christmas.

I am about to move out of my state of Maryland to a dream home, and CA wasn't on the list of new states to consider... sorry!
    1) I like humidity as oposed to dry skin cracking heat, in my city we get no snow, and who needs lake Tahoe when you got all these islands around.

    2) Georgia is quite diverse and you would never know if you didnt ask but of course an idiot like yourself would live by assumptions.

    3) No Earthquakes in Ga and hurricanes are alot easier than fires but of course who wouldnt want to have everything burning all the time.

    4) Not everybody goes to Cali. Some people go to Tybee or Beaufort, or even Savannah. You should really think befor you type moron.
yea but do you have your owwn bud light presents real men of genius song?

    go texas!
yeah thats why the death toll due to the wonderfull Heat Wave is at 123 last i checked

Does any one know of an agressive child custody attorney in Boise, ID?

I recently moved to Boise from Utah. I have sole physical custody and joint legal custody of my son who is 5. His father has been a weekend dad for his whole life, and is now wanting a custody change. I currently have an attorney in Utah but am getting little to no results from her. She is very timid and very laid back. I need someone who is aggressive and knows what they are doing. I am also wondering if there is an opinion on weather I should seek a new attorney here in Boise, or in Utah where the case has jurisdiction???Does any one know of an agressive child custody attorney in Boise, ID?
A Boise attorney would cost you more as he/she would have to be certified for both states, and charge you travel costs.

I feel your pain dear. It has been witchin' cold here most of the year. When it does warm up we have a tornado or two. It is supposed to be nice today, but in the 90's.
im in CA and friday it was sunny, slightly cloudy and nice (we went swimming), saturday it was cold and raining, and today it was clear and bright, with a freezing wind. ITS DRIVING ME NUTS! I wish the weather would figure out what it was doing. Its been like this for the past several weeks... maybe its a government conspiracy...Poll what is your weather like this year?

This site has excellent maps of climate. You can customize by month, location, and climate variable.

    http://climatemaps.co.cc
Unseasonal is the word..Summer lasted over 4 months, Spring was very short and Winter is almost here..then again we do live in the land of 4 seasons in 1 day.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9sem05RH…
HOT, Today in St. Petersburg, Florida, it is 87o F, Sunny and Fair!! 20% chance of rain, but I wouldn't bet on it!

    :-)
It's been in the low to mid 80's in CA where I usually live, but a lot hotter in Miami.
    Hi Debby,

California also are having very strange weather too..Doesn't look like much of a Summer this year..The years are flying to fast anymore..

    Your Friend,

    poppy1
today and for this whole week low 90's about 70% humidity! TOO HOT for it only being may : ( we usually get a good soaking rain about every 8-10 days, good for the garden...
With the exception of the last 2 days it's been a cool year so far but i think that's about to end soon.
That doesn't sound fun. We had a harsh winter but it is finally starting to warm up, though it can be iffy even this time of the year.
    Upper 90's...hot and humid..

Who is better about letting you pick your base U.S. Air force or the Navy?

I want to join the air force or navy but I am worried about what base I'll get assigned to. I would prefer somewhere with warm weather by the coast. Something like San Diego(Navy) , LA(air-force) or Hawaii. I was wondering if ether branch is better about giving people a base off their wish list. I just don't want to end up stuck on the outskirts of some place like Alaska or Utah for the next 4-6 years (No offense)Who is better about letting you pick your base U.S. Air force or the Navy?
They're both pretty much the same, as in they're gonna send you wherever the hell they feel like, lol. It usually depends on the type of job you pick, so research the jobs you may want VERY carefully before you sign any kind of paper; figure out what they entail, which bases have the jobs, ETC. Like I just said, your field will play a major role in where you're stationed. But whatever you do, if you're really worried about where you'll go, don't pick Security Forces or Military police. That's the easiest way to find yourself somewhere you don't want to be, like Afghanistan or worse, North Dakota.
In the Navy there's a huge chance you'll get San Dog because its the biggest Navy town in the world. We have some many bases down there.Who is better about letting you pick your base U.S. Air force or the Navy?
the rule is "you go where they send you/ or where your job is needed " .
it all really depends whats available for your mos..just gotta wait for ait when they tell you.Who is better about letting you pick your base U.S. Air force or the Navy?
none really. It depends on your mos and the needs of the branch you've chosen to be apart of.

Utah. Roads to the canyons ski resort?

I am curious how the roads are on the way up the mountain. I know that the weather always changes in the winter and stuff but im not sure if it is a good idea to take my car up there on just a normal ski day. I grew up with tons of snow and stuff so i know the risks and how to drive in it. your thoughts?

ps. is there a shuttle that leaves from provo/orem area for cheap (like 20 bucks)?Utah. Roads to the canyons ski resort?
Well if it isn't snowing its pretty normal but windy road.. Its not that bad though.. if it is snowing it may be a little more difficult because to drive up the canyon you need 4 wheel drive or chains.. So prepare accordingly. Its an interstate though so they keep it pretty clean after it snows.

I am not aware of a shuttle from Provo.. but I would maybe look at RideUTA.com.. its the Utah public transportation site that has schedules and routes and everything.

Do you know the best small town to live in, in the US?

I am looking for a place to move with my family. Small town or rural living. Not too high of an altitude. Friendly community, would prefer artist community, or some place with seasonal tourism. Politics leaning toward liberal to moderate. Good weather. Reasonable cost of living. Low crime rate. Scenic. Around Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Idaho, but open to other suggestions. Thanks.Do you know the best small town to live in, in the US?
I have lived in Casper, Wyoming all my life. There is basically now crime, very family friendly, community involved. You have the best of both worlds, big city and rural community. The weather is like no place on earth. =] It really is a beautiful place to live. Plus Denver is only 4 hours away and the Black Hills in South Dakota is about a 4.5 hour drive.

Awrighty then, we're planning on moving to St. George, Utaaah!

I was just wondering how much it snows there on average.

I was also wondering if it might be too harsh conditions to drive to somewhere around January. We're planning on moving somewhere near late December/early or mid January and I'm just worried our moving plan will be halted by weather conditions too harsh to drive through. I sure hope not.

This year, that is, not on average, lol.Snow in Utah questions?
St George gets very little snowfall

average annual snowfall is 3.2 inches

St. George is pretty low elevation in the desert, so it seldom snows.

What do you love about Las Vegas?

I'd especially like to hear from Plumbers who reside there. I might think seriously of moving there from Maryland and want some good excuses to go. It seems to be a good "hub location" in that You can bounce over to Colorado or Utah. California and New Mexico. What's the weather like? What do you love about Las Vegas?
I used to live in Las Vegas. It is booming and a person in your profession won't have any trouble finding work.

But - living there can be expensive, and if you are in the part of Maryland near DC or Baltimore, the cost of living is comparable to living in DC in terms of housing. You will save money in heating, but paying for air conditioning will make up for it.

So much of Las Vegas is new, it's not an old city like Baltimore. Lots of newer strip malls and brand new apartment complexes besides all of the hotels and casinos and not a lot of buildings that were built before 1950's. Being from the east coast, this was a bit of a change for me.

It is hot in Las Vegas and this sounds like the cliche, but it really is a dry heat. It's not like the humid summers you are used to. It can get cool at night. Fall and spring are both very pleasant weather-wise.

You're right in that it's easy to pop over to other nearby cities. Southwest and other carriers have service to LA, Phoenix, etc. so you can jump on a plane and have a three day weekend in another city, and do so affordably.

I found Las Vegas to be kind of a strange city to live in. For example, there are slot machines everywhere - the gas station, the convenience store. You would never know by visiting some places that you are in the middle of a desert, such as apartment complexes, shopping centers, and hotels/casinos, because of the often elaborate fountains, water displays.

Also, nearly every time you charge something in a store (like a Wal-mart), they ask you for ID. It's kind of like "well, we know that you didn't steal someone's wallet...but we want to check ID just to be on the safe side". For me, that got to be annoying.

Hope this helps! What do you love about Las Vegas?
I've only visited there once but what I liked best was some of the architecture and designWhat do you love about Las Vegas?
Better than the Dollar menu at McD's. Ton of cheap good food.

Can you over water your lawn?

Utah weather 95 degrees per dayCan you over water your lawn?
how much grass do you see growing in a swamp? you need to water heavily every 4 days. Let the water get into the roots. If you water lightly every day, the roots will form up high, and get too hot from the sun and will kill the grass anyway. Water heavily every 4th day and the water gets to where the roots need to be. About 3 to 4 inches down. And it would not hurt to plug your lawn, it is cheap to rent an aerator, and they do sooooo much good!
yes you can and most people do, as much as 30% to 70%. Too much water can lead to problems like fungus and certain root problems, also. They developed a moisture sensor right here in Ogden that will take out all the guess work of how much and when to water, plus save you enough money on your water bill to pay for itself in the first year or two. check out the web site at www.morph2o.com and call them for a possible free one.Can you over water your lawn?
If you deal with temperatures that high daily, you'll be alright. Over-watering in cooler/naturally damp environments will cause the plants to rot, drown, mold making them turn yellow, begin to show black/gray spots or shrivel up.
You sure can. When you get your water bill, you will know for sure you have over-watered! I about fainted when I saw mine. Really, if you water too much usually mushrooms start growing. At least it always has in my yard. Can you over water your lawn?
yes you can but i think a lot of it is evaporating so i think your good

    Where to place a party?

My sweet sixteen is coming soon. I would like to have it on May first, but the weather may be bad. (the report says showers) So we can't have it outside really. My house is the only other option, but it would take a while to clean up. Especially the backyard and downstairs. It's virtually impossible in a week. So I need somewhere inside, but close by to have it. Any ideas?

The state of Utah has a great mesonet network of weather stations. You can find it at the following link. Just click on the station plotted on a map at the following link and you will get most od the data you want .

    http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/slc/datamap/meso鈥?/a>
Many people say will say weather.com, and that is true if you want a long term future forecast. But if you haven't been to www.wunderground.com (Weather Underground) you should try it. For one thing it gives data at faster intervals (every few seconds). Also the data is coming from both local and volunteer weather watchers, Personal Weather Stations. These are people (home owners) who provide their data there might even be one in your neighborhood. You will also find wind, temp, humidity, precipitation, dew point, visibility, barometric pressure, and extra data like UV index, heat index, you can find local national and world wide maps of all those variables. Wunderground also does something else The Weather Channel doesn't do. While The Weather Channel gives you the current data, updated every hour, Wunderground also provides data history. Meaning it stores data into graphs and data logs for the local and personal stations. Wunderground also provides heating and cooling degree days, and growing degree days. And other data for agricaulture, aviation, and celestial. I have tryed The Weather Channel and Weather Bug none can come close to whats provided on www.wunderground.com .Need really good weather websites?

can you tell me the weather? thanksI'm french and i'll go in utah, arizona and new mexico in april, 9 to 20 exactly.?
The weather should be lovely this time of year. How cold will depend upon which part of these states you will visit. If you are in southern Arizona/New Mexico, the temperatures will be quite warm by then. In the mountains though (further to the north) the nights will still be cold...maybe even to 0C or a bit lower. The days, however, will likely be sunny and cool...think 20C or so on average.

If you go to weather.com you can input an exact city name and get historical averages.

What type of clothes for hiking?

I'm going on an expedition in Utah in order to census wildlife and map game trails this January. So what clothes will I need since I will be hiking in cold, unpredictable weather and steep, slippery paths for 5-6 hours a day? What type of clothes for hiking?
Utah has a variety climates and terrains. If you are going be in mountain country covered by snow, you might dress like a snowmobiler. Snow pants, wool socks, layers of clothing, warm hat and thermo gloves. Insulated snow boots keep your feet warm. It is important to avoid cotton clothing, which once it gets wet you'll lose all your body heat. It is important to have good sunglasses or you'll get snow blindness. If you are going in snow country; bring a pair of snowshoes %26amp; poles. Also, a small snow shovel.

You might even consider an avalanche beacon.

In Utah deserts, you might dress lighter for more mobility.

Make sure you stay dry. You might use your hiking shoes if they have good traction on sandstone and mud. It might be good to bring a good pair of hiking poles, to keep you from slipping. If you use regular hiking boots you may need to double up wickdry or wool socks. A wickdry base layer, will keep you dryer from you sweat.

A wet down jacket loses body heat. A good coat made with a wool liner will keep you warmer.

A one burner stove can provide instant heat without matches, even in stormy weather.

Is Utah a good destination in March?

We were thinking about taking an RV trip from Salt Lake City to Phoenix and seeing the National Parks along the way (Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Arches) I just wasn't sure if the weather would prevent sight seeing, and if the parks operate at this time of year.

Also we wanted to hike to Angel's Landing in Zion national park, how hard is the hike, and is it possible to do in March.

Thank you!! :)Is Utah a good destination in March?
Southern Utah is usually pretty great in March, I've taken several spring break trips there during that time. It's warm, but not hot...perfect for outdoor activities. I've actually hiked in Angels' Landing in March and it was fine. It does depend on the weather though, sometimes it can be really unpredictable during that time of the year. Even if you can't do the hike, Zion is still gorgeous and worth stopping by.

thanks sooo much! let me know if you have any questions

btw i'm 14Outfits for cold and snowy weather?
Okay. You expect that with $14, you can actually buy something decent? The best place you can try is either Target or Walmart.

If you already have jackets and jeans, I would suggest layering the jackets-hoodie under another jacket, etc etc.

Buy some cheap Ugg rip offs instead at Payless or something to at least decently keep your feet warm.
ok. i live in malibu and bev. hills. I cant answer any questions about winter clothes. However, the girls at my school wear LOTS of trench coats in white particuarly! its pretty cheap. Uggs ARE so OVERATTED! opt for fringe boots. :D

There are some cute coats that are currently @ Target. Hats/Mittens there too.

    Flannel shirts @ JcPenneys

Skinny jeans @ Forever 21 (also some cute new years ite

Long sleeved cute shirts @ Buckles (also very expensive %26amp; nice jeans)

    Hope this helps! %26lt;3

PS- you might want to save some cash for shopping money, etc.
Thanks for responding to my question!

You should probably wear skinny jeans (they're the trend nowadays, apparently), some comfortable boots, and a cute coat.Outfits for cold and snowy weather?
    layer alot!

but leggins under jeans and put on long socks before you put on boots.

also wear like tank tops under everything and make sure ur top jacket is super cuteee. and accesorize ith a cute scarf or hat!
go to abercombie and forever 21
well try ugg style boots that you can find real cheap at like target or payless.I have a pair of tan airwalk brand boots that are ugg style to replace my uggs for when I went to visit my sister up in New York last christmas because I didn't want them to get muddy or wet lolz and I still wear them they last great and are real soft haha.I also brang leggins (the kind that goes down to your ankles) and wore them under my jeans. If you can find a warm puffer vest or jacket that would work,if not just think layers.you might want to find some scarves (even fashion scarves will work as long as they cover your neck.Good luck,Ive never been to utah so I don't know how cold it is Im just basing my answer of off my trip to NY haha
Get a cheap plaid flannel button down shirt big enough to fit over a sweatshirt (Maybe if your dad has one? you could barrow it?) then put it over a plain Grey Sweatshirt make sure the sweatshirt has a hood though and it makes the outfit cuter if the sweatshirt and flannel shirt are little big and baggy then get really warm Black leggings( i've seen them every where the are really warm) then get a short skirt (I like the ones that are made of like jersey or legging fabric or jean) and get a long sleeve plain shirt that is snug and doesn't have baggy sleeves (maybe the kind that has thumb holes) then get a plain ribbed tank top and then a spaghetti strap tank top that has a all over DESIGN then just add a little Jewelry and really cute beanie and uggs or some kind of warm winter boot

colors don't matter you can have what ever but if you have say a red flannel shirt over a grey sweatshirt with black leggings and a dark or light denim skirt with a pink long sleeve shirt and bright green ribbed tank Top with a spaghetti strap tank w/ some kind of all over DESIGN any color and a rose purple beanie and light jewelry (not chunky) and uggs would look cute but that's just me

What kind of weather conditions for flight to be delayed?

I'm flying to California tomorrow, and theres a layover in Salt Lake City, Utah. i checked the forecast and its been snowing today and supposed to snow tomorrow.

I was wondering, how much snow or how bad the weather is supposed to be for a flight to be delayed or canceled?

it would really suck if my flight got canceledWhat kind of weather conditions for flight to be delayed?
Unfortunately there is no easy answer to this. The weather could be perfectly fine, and you could still experience delays or cancellations. However, if the weather is supposed to be bad, you can probably count on some sort of delay. Depending what the visibility is like, they (air traffic control) may slow planes down, and allow less than normal to take off or land per hour. It also depends what kind of plane you are on, as some have different capabilities in adverse weather than others. It's gonna be a wait and see situation. The best advice I can give you is to check the status of your flight before you leave for the airport. Also, just in case, think of a back up plan should you get stuck in Salt Lake City. Would you just stay in the airport? Or get a hotel close by? It's just something to think about....this is a chance you take any time you have a connecting flight. The chances of this happening are slim, but like I said, it's something to think about. Better to have a plan, and not need it....than not have one, and need it. Another unfortunate thing is that should this happen, the airline will most likely not cover any expenses. Usually if it's an act of mother nature, they don't feel responsible. I wish you the best of luck during your travels tomorrow...and hope that everything goes smooth for you! What kind of weather conditions for flight to be delayed?
I think the main issue is how well equipped the airport is at handling snow. The forecast only calls for light snow so that alone won't prevent a plane from flying. Its not currently snowing there right now so that means they have had a chance to clear some runways and keep things operational. It also depends on the airline, some like United have been canceling all week due to crew shortages. You might experience a delay if other flights are backed up but I don't think the flight will be canceled. I say just keep checking on your flight to make sure its on time and hope for the best. It takes a real blizzard for an airport to shut down and it doesn't sound like thats going to happen tomorrow. Good luck! What kind of weather conditions for flight to be delayed?
There's a high chance of delay. It's not the actual flying that's a problem, but they have to de-ice planes before take-off (and often there is not enough equipment to do that to the flight schedule). And if the runway gets a little slippery, the gaps between take-offs and landings will have to be longer = not so many flights can get in / out.

Take a good book with you and wear comfortable clothes!

How to make durable all weather outdoor feral cat shelters?

I live in Utah where the summers can get up 99 and down to single digits in the winter, so I want that will be good in any weather. I realize that what kind of bedding is appropriate depends on the weather. I would appreciate any info you have on building and maintaining a shelter.

I'd also like know what bedding worked best and where some good locations would be to place the shelters. Also any websites that have anything to with cat shelters

I've never don e this before but I want to help the cats that are outside in this storm we're having, so maybe they can have some dry and cozy to go to during the next one.

Any Other Places In The US Which Are Having Unusually Cold Weather?

I am in Utah, in a suburb of Salt Lake City, and we are having tremendously cold weather for this time of year. In December, we usually have high 30s and into the 40s during the days, and then low 30s to high 20s at night. This year it's really cold. In the last few weeks we've rarely gone above freezing during the day, and were down in the 10-15 degree range at night, with a few nights dipping into the single digits.

We usually have a patch of three or so weeks like this somewhere between the middle of January and the middle of February, but this year the cold has been really early and really unusual. I cannot imagine what January and February are going to be like.

Is anyone else experiencing extra-cold weather for this time of year? Where are you, and what are your temperatures like? What is generally normal for you this time of year?

Thanks for your answers. I am just wondering what it's like in other places.Any Other Places In The US Which Are Having Unusually Cold Weather?

South Texas. Geez... can I say anymore! The weather is constantly changing this time of year. Sometimes it feels like winter, like fall, like summer. Yeah, usually everyone around here catches something because of all the darn weather changes. It ranges from about 40 - 70 degrees from day to night. Weird. It never stays cold.

Gosh, I wish it would snow again this year!

Which PURSE should I use for NOV-FEB in UTAH?!? LOVE to HEAR your THOUGHTS & OPINIONS BEHIND YOUR PICK?!?

OK GIRLFRIENDS - I have a dilemma and want to hear your thought %26amp; opinions as to what I should do and WHY YOU FEEL THAT WAY?

I live in Utah and it is definitely FALL here and WINTER is right around the corner. So I feel it is time to change the purse I'm currently using which is my D%26amp;B Chiara Silver Medium Bag.

So the choices to pick from is as follows:

    1. D%26amp;B Black Shopper Tote that had Black Leather around the bottom with feet and also Black Leather Trim and Handles with the Full Fabric in Heather Gray with the D%26amp;B's in Black. This purse is a Shopper Tote so it is Higher than it is Longer.

    2. Chanel Essential Tote that is the Black Quilted Exterior with the Interlocking "C"'s in White with the Fushia Interior. Pretty much the same in Height %26amp; Length.

    3. D%26amp;B Vintage Black All Weather Leather Gladstone with Tan Trim. This purse is Longer than it is Higher.

    4. Stay with the D%26amp;B Chiara Silver Medium Bag. Pretty much the same in Height %26amp; Length.

Each bag is comparable in the amount of items they can hold.

They are all AUTHENTIC DESIGNER HANDBAGS and now you have the specifics of the FOUR (4) Purses/Handbags that are in the running.

I ask that you not only tell me which bag you'd pick but the reasoning behind your pick.

Thanks -- "T"Which PURSE should I use for NOV-FEB in UTAH?!? LOVE to HEAR your THOUGHTS %26amp; OPINIONS BEHIND YOUR PICK?!?
I wouldnt limit yourself to one purse for the whole winter. I change up my purses almost everyday depending on my outfit. I would just use whichever you are feeling at the moment and change it up when your ready for a change.Which PURSE should I use for NOV-FEB in UTAH?!? • What's the fastest driving route from Virginia to Utah?

I'll be leaving Virginia Beach at 4:30pm on Friday, December 16th. I have a friend driving with me, so we ONLY plan on stopping for food and gas. The goal is to get there by Sunday morning. I know it's possible, and I did this drive myself in May, and it only took 40 hours (including stops). I'm just not sure how cooperative the weather is going to be.

    Cliffnotes:

    -Have a partner driver.

-Need to make it to Utah in less than 39 hours.

-I drove I80 in May, and was told that it'd be bad to drive in December. What's the fastest driving route from Virginia to Utah?
Chances are any route you take is not going to be cooperative, the climatic norm for mid-December makes it likely you will encounter trouble any way you go, especially in mountain passes and the wind swept plains of the West. Driving on I-80 all the way really doesn't make sense anyways, since you end up going pretty far out of your way North, I recommend trying this option:

Take I-64 from Virginia Beach to Saint Louis

In Saint Louis switch to I-70, which will take you all the way to Utah.

If you need to go to Salt Lake City, travel up I-15 once you are in the state.

    --Alternative--

    Take I-64 to St. Louis

In Saint Louis switch to I-70, which you will take to Kansas City

In Kansas City switch to I-29, which you will take to Omaha

In Omaha switch to I-80, which will take you to UtahWhat's the fastest driving route from Virginia to Utah?
North on I 95 to Washington DC New York Ave west bound (US 50 West)

Take this to St Louis pick up I 70 there west to Utah

What is it like living in Utah?

Weather wise, things to do there, apartment and/or condo ranges, etc. I would love to move out west one day. Hopefully within 8-10 years. I just want a fresh start. I lived in Miami all my life and want to live somewhere nice , peaceful, and serene. I plan on having kids someday and want to raise them in a nice, comfy environment. I hear Utah is a nice place to live. I also heard that most people there are Mormons. I'm not a Mormon, but I'm a christian. Will they accept me? Thanks. What is it like living in Utah?
Utah is a great state. In Northern Utah we get really nice and warm temperatures in the summer time for an example like today it is supposed to be around 100 but ten it will drop to like the 80's. We get snow in the winter time which a lot of people like yes it does get cold. In the Southern Utah is is lot warmer than southern Utah and they really do not get snow. You do not have to be a member of the church to live in Utah in fact there are a lot of people that are not members of the church that live in Utah. The education here is great including the higher (college level). There are many things to do here. Lots of people like to come here and raise there families. I have heard even basketball player for the Utah Jazz Deron Williams on how proud he is to raise his family here in Utah. What is it like living in Utah?
Snows in winter, but isn't bad (I lived in Ohio for a few years, though, and nothing will ever seem bad compared to that). Much drier than Florida, obviously, but it's not as hot in winter, and you won't be swatting at love bugs all summer. Great state for outdoor activities--hiking, camping, ect. Lots to do in the bigger cities, not as much to do in the smaller ones. Can't help you with prices, but the people in my state keep moving there for bigger homes, so must be good.

Definitely peaceful...which meant that it wasn't for me, as I moved there from L.A. and lasted only a few years before moving back (I missed the sirens and the freeways too much). Still, it's perfect for families. Very friendly people, fewer crimes, good medical care. And it won't matter that you're not Mormon, because they're Christians, as well, and you'll have plenty in common. You might actually like it, because while of course there are exceptions, Mormons tend to be very "family friendly" and welcoming. What is it like living in Utah?
If you tell them you are Christian and they aren't, they won't take it well. Since they worship Christ, they are pretty sure they are Christian too.

Utah is hot and dry in the summer, and very cold in the winter. Although a lot of it is desert, there are some very green places too.

I grew up in Utah and moved to Seattle. I don't think Utah is any safer than any other Western area. Their crime stats are about average. While they claim to be very family oriented, I don't find other people to love their families any less than Mormons.

How serene it is in Utah varies by where you live. If you have to be in a city to get a job, there will be traffic problems. Salt Lake City is in a valley that collects smog.

All in all, I like the place, but I think the Northwest is better.
Utah's ok, but if you want to move out west, I'd consider Nevada first.
