HELP!! why did my FedEx package go from Utah to Tennessee if i live in California?

i ordered some headphones from Logan,Utah and i chose fedex express shipping so i ordered it on tuesday and its say it will be here friday. but it left the facility and went to salt lake city, and now today it is in memphis. also it says there are severe weather conditions that might affect packages. so my question is why did it go to the opposite side of the country especially if there is bad weather. and when do you think it will arrive.HELP!! why did my FedEx package go from Utah to Tennessee if i live in California?
ALL Fedex packages go through Memphis.

That's where their central sorting facility is located and all of their planes land there and offload for packages to be sorted. Then the planes are reloaded and sent to their regions for distribution. When you track a package with Fedex it will always show a period of time that the package is in Memphis while it's at their sorting facility.

I have found their tracking system on the website to be right on as far as predicting the arrival time. It takes into account the travel to the Memphis sorting facility. The snow will only impact customers who live in areas where the snow is slowing air travel. I would guess where you live there are no delays and your package will be on time as listed by their tracking service.HELP!! why did my FedEx package go from Utah to Tennessee if i live in California?
FedEx packages go to a central hub for sorting. That's Memphis. If it arrived in Memphis on Wednesday morning, it will leave late tonight for California. The package will be delivered to you Friday. Memphis did not have severe weather.
