I have lived in florida pretty much my whole life and im about to move to utah, which i know will be a huge change. What differences (besides weather) should i look forward to? i know that there are alot of mormons in utah, how do they treat christians? Im 15 years old. Im just worried that it will be too big of a change and i wont feel at home. What activities are there to do there for my age? thankyouHow is it living in Utah being a Christian?
That's just like asking how minnows treat fish. Get over yourself. You're not the only kind of Christian there is.
We are just like everybody else. We have our Saints and our Ain'ts; our good, bad and ugly; and our jerks and our salt of the earth.
Where specifically are you moving to? I ask because it will very much depends on where you live.
Salt Lake City is pretty diverse (only 50% LDS) and so you don't stand out too much by not being LDS. Also, since most LDS kids are used to this diversity, your not being like them won't be too big of a deal.
If you are moving to Utah County (Provo, Springville, American Fork, etc) things can be a bit rougher. In these places, you are definitely in the minority, and I know of several Christians who endured some pretty nasty treatment from LDS youth. It isn't always this way, but it does happen.
Either way, though, there are non-LDS churches just about anywhere you go, and there will be a good community of non-LDS for you to interact with. Many Mormons are absolutely wonderful, and you won't have any problems with them. With others, not so much. How is it living in Utah being a Christian?
I am from Utah! Don't look forward to the weather it sucks. One day it's summer weather and the next it's below freezing. It sucks bad. Um I know people think that you are like exiled if you aren't mormon/christian but that is not true. People in Utah actually are pretty accepting! but there are those crazy mormons where they won't let their children near nonmembers. I have a 15 year old sister and her and her friends go to the mall, movies, bowling, mess around at walmart (surprisingly fun) sledding, skiing/snowboarding, swimming, sky diving at fat cats, surfing at fat cats, arcades. Like there's a ton of things to do here! The list is endless!
Most of the friends you make there will probably be mormon. They will probably invite you to church activities and the like. I can't speak for everyone in the state on how they will treat you, but we are taught to love others regardless of their religion. There are tons of youth activities that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (mormons) has like dances, weekly young men/women activities, camping trips, firesides, etc.How is it living in Utah being a Christian?
Mormonism is a form of Christianity, albeit a relatively young and rather heterodox (meaning they have some beliefs that do not mesh with mainstream Christianity) one. They tend toward social conservatism. You'll probably be fine, since even in a relatively culturally-homogeneous group, you can find people with a variety of opinions, especially if you're in a larger city.
Mormons are Christians.
It depends, I think, on where you go and what YOUR attitude is. The closer you get to Salt Lake City, the less likely that EVERYONE is Mormon.
Mormons are Christians.
Just be sure to ask them about their magical long underoos.
Mormons ARE Christians
LDS is a cult.
Remember that and you may be OK.
