My wife and I and our 6 yr old are planning a trip for early december to go skiing and play in the snow. We'd probably pick Utah, Colorado or Tahoe...But any others will do as well. I know that some Mountain areas have more severe weather than others and was wondering which ones tend to be the less severe as we are not used to the cold weather.What Ski resorts tend to have the warmest weather in December?
Tahoe and Mammoth are great in December. The question will be how is the snow. Mammoth usually has better snow in December but is cooler than Tahoe. Mammoth is easy to get to from LA, about 5 hr drive, long but a great one. Tahoe's weather is better during the day but both will be chilly at night. The Marriott resort in South Lake Tahoe is great and right at the Gondola to Heavenly. Heavenly is a fun resort. Sierra at Tahoe is a smaller place that a lot of locals use. If the weather is severe in Tahoe, Sierra will have better conditions.
