Which is best overall? Nature wise? Weather? Fun things like amusement parks, malls?Which of these states do you think is better to live in? Utah, Oregon or Pennsylvania?
I don't know anything about Utah or Pennsylvania (well, I could pretend I did, but really, It would all be stereotypical info) but I do live in Oregon and it's great!
Oregon is a very "green" state - we're ahead of many other states in recycling, using renewable energy, trying to keep out envorinment as it is (for the most part haha). There are some big cities like Portland, Eugene, etc. But they're pretty environmentally friendly. We don't have smog or a bunch of pollution like many other large cities. They're pretty easy to get around in the cities too as they have great public transportation, special bike lanes, and traffic flows pretty well.
Theres a lot of beautiful countryside as well. LOTS of water in Oregon...waterfalls, lakes, rivers, ponds, and the ocean! The beaches aren't very warm, but I love going there anyways...they are never packed like many other beaches either! I think all or almost all beaches in Oregon are public and you can go and maybe see some people on the beach, maybe not depending on the time of year and stuff. You'd never have to fight for a place to lay your towel though, like many other places.
It rains a lot in oregon. But people get used to it...I kind of like it actually. I'd say the weather is usually pretty mild. It varies a lot. Summer days usualy range from 70-85 degrees...when it gets to the 90s or 100s, everyone goes crazy and locks themselves inside with AC or heads to the beach. Fall and spring are cooler (maybe 50-70ish) and get rain a lot. Winter is usually pretty rainy and cold but not too cold. Theres an occasional week or two of snow and ice, but nothing long term. Snow %26amp; ice and temperatures above 95 are usually big news for us. This is refering to the "valley" area - salem, portland, eugene, etc. The eastern part of oregon is desert-like and has a lot more extreme weather (but really, hardly anyone lives there haha) and the southern part of oregon, like ashland %26amp; that area get quite a bit of snow in the winter. Central Oregon (bend being the major town) is a really popular area as well, especially for "outdoorsy" types. They have lots of fishing, hiking, camping, snow sports, water sports, and a few really cool natural attractions.
There are a good deal of malls, a few amusement parks. Theres a lot of good places for camping and recreational things like that. Fishing is pretty popular in some parts. People like to head to the mountains to ski, snowboard, tube, etc. Portland has a zoo and OMSI which is a fun place to go. There are lots of little festivals and such going on through out the year. Portland has the rose festival, ashland has a shakespeare festival, eugene has a country fair, there are a lot of fairs and other smaller festivals all over (wine %26amp; jazz festivals and art festivals are common). It depends on the area and your interests, but it's easy to find things to do. Some of the better shopping is in the bigger cities, but you can find malls everywhere. Smaller towns usually have some really cute little botiques.
P.S. About the amusement parks, oregon is right next to california, which has some of the best amusement parks...so it wouldn't be far to go for a vacation!Which of these states do you think is better to live in? Utah, Oregon or Pennsylvania?
Oregon
Pennsylvania is lowest on the list due to weather.
Utah is loaded with Mormon's, not that there is anything wrong with that - just not my cup of tea.......oh wait Mormon's don't drink tea.
Oregon weather is relatively mild all year round. Oregon has no sales tax. Oregon is one of the more liberal states.
Don't know about amusement parks, but that wouldn't even be a consideration for me when picking a place to live.Which of these states do you think is better to live in? Utah, Oregon or Pennsylvania?
This site has excellent climate maps. Compare Utah, Oregon, and Pennsylvania. Cheers!
