The University of Utah sits way up high on the mountain bench. Has great views of the Wasatch mountain range to the East. Campus is pretty spread out, but the walk isn't that bad. You can literally walk from one end of campus to the other in 15 minutes or just take the free shuttles that constantly zoom around campus. As a student you can ride the TRAX trains from the U. to downtown and to the southern valleys for free! I think as well as the public bus systems too.

The weather is hot in the summer, and coooold in the winter. We have all 4 seasons here. Winter is already here. It was 25 degrees this morning coming to campus.

Student life is tricky. As Salt Lake is so spread out, it's really a 'commuter' campus. If you wind up living on campus, I'm sure you'll meet people and be more involved with other student affairs. I however was a commuter and rarely ever hung out with classmates other than in class.

Things to do outside the classroom? Well that's up to you. Alot of us are mountain skiiers and snowboarders and discount passes are available for students on campus. We have the best skiing/snowboarding anywhere! Hiking in the summertime is always a blast. Big Cottonwood canyon is about 15 minutes from campus. Despite SLC being somewhat of a food-void town there are good places to eat here. The Red Iguana downtown has some of the best Mexican food in the state. Takashi, although expensive boasts the best Sushi and makes for a great night out with friends. And SLC has a vibrant music scene with bands of all types, so if you wanna go rock out one night, chances are there are shows going on to move your feet too.

Hope this helps.
